Analysis of transport needs of the population is the basis for transport planning of cities. For the largest cities, such as St. Petersburg, such a forecast should be carried out not only taking into account the population living in the territorial boundaries of the municipality, but also taking into account persons who constantly come to the city from the suburban zone for labor or other purposes. The project analyzes the existing correspondence and the spatial distribution of the population as the basis for the development of project proposals for the road map for the development of the main public land transport routes of St. Petersburg.
The aim of the work is to obtain a common vector for the development of the passenger system in St. Petersburg and to test project solutions on the local section of the route network. Taking into account the set goal, a number of tasks were solved: a main network that complements and develops high-speed non-ground public transport for a number of demanded transport links was developed; the decision on optimization of a segment of a route network (the pilot project) was developed.
